Northview Bank Lends in Alexandria
Alexandria, one of the fastest growing “micropolitan” cities in Minnesota, is just two hours away from Minneapolis along Highway 94. A traditional yet forward-thinking city, it offers a small-town feel with some upscale amenities.
Wine lovers will enjoy a visit to Carlos Creek Winery, and vintage boat connoisseurs should not miss the annual Minnesota Lakes Classic Boat Show at Arrowwood Resort and Conference Center on Lake Darling which features vintage Chris-Crafts, Gar Woods, and others. The Minnesota Lakes Maritime Museum is also a must-see with classic boats, hotel and resort history, and fishing memorabilia.
The true centerpiece of Alexandria, however, is the chain of lakes that includes excellent fishing and watersports opportunities. The chain includes Lake Le Homme Dieu, an 1,800 acre lake with 10 foot clarity, and robust populations of walleye, northern, largemouth bass; Lake Darling; Lake Victoria; and Lake Carlos, a 2,600 acre lake that drops to 163 feet with excellent water clarity, and has abundant largemouth, bluegill, crappie, and northern pike populations. Lake cabins dot the shorelines of each of these lakes, and any of them would be a good place to find a cabin for sale.
Other notable lakes near Alexandria are Lobster, Ida, Mary, and Miltona. Lobster Lake is full of points, arms, and bays offering excellent fish habitat. Lake Ida is large at 4,400 acres and deep. With good water quality, it too is an excellent fishing lake. Lake Mary is 2,500 acres, and is a bustling lake come summertime with many cabins and lake homes along the shore. Lake Miltona is a very large lake at 5,700 acres. It is quite clear, offering a diverse and healthy fish community.
